BBQ on the picnic table

BBQ luncheons and parties are synonymous with nice summer days, best shared with family and friends. Whether you are looking to impress your friends or live a healthier lifestyle without giving up the joy of a good barbecue, these recipes will certainly appeal to your creativity…and taste buds too!

Read on to see the best 4 BBQ recipes to try this summer!

1. Summer Chicken Breast

This recipe is essentially a fresh take on grilled chicken, which elevates the flavor of the meat with a nice set of spices and a simple, yet detailed preparation.

The secret lays in creating a nice marinade for your chicken breast, and to give the meat enough time for it to soak in all the flavors. To make the marinade, you will need:

  • 4 tbsp. Lemon juice
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp. Cumin
  • Pepper and salt to taste
  • 1 tsp. Fresh dill
  • 2 tbsp. Honey

Simply mix all the ingredients listed above in a container to create your marinade. Completely cover up your chicken breasts in the marinade, place in a sealed container, and store in the fridge.

As the chicken breasts rest with the marinade, they will acquire a pleasant flavor and the meat will be tenderized. For best results, let the meat rest in your fridge overnight. If this is a last-minute BBQ idea, the marinade will work even if you only have time to wait for 3 to 5 hours, but letting it all rest overnight will definitely produce better results.

Get your barbecue hot and ready to go and simply grill your chicken breasts on both side until cooked to your liking! When placing the chicken on the grill, make sure you don’t ruin the “coat” of marinade, which should be cooked with the chicken.

The resulting dish will be a nice chicken breast with a flavorful lemony glaze, and not to mention an amazingly tender consistency at every bite.

You can make an amazing dip using your leftover Greek yogurt, and adding whatever dill you have left to it, salt, pepper and olive oil.

This dish is simple to make, yet exotic, and healthy too!

2. Vegetarian Skewers: A Healthy Option for Your Grill

A true BBQ classic, vegetarian skewers are a perfect side to any meal or a healthy alternative for any backyard party.

You can pretty much choose any vegetable you prefer and create flavorful combinations of your favorite greens and garden veggies. Simply stick then all to your skewer, drizzle with olive oil and melted butter, if you are feeling extra indulgent, and let the heat work its magic!

3. Halloumi: The World’s Best BBQ Cheese

Halloumi is a tasty Greek cheese which is a mainstay in most Mediterranean BBQs.

Traditionally, this cheese is made with a blend of cow and goat milk and it has a nice flavor with a lot of Umami. Simply grill your halloumi straight out of the box, or garnish it with your favorite seasonings.

It’s perfect to add something special to a burger or sandwich, or even on its own!

4. S’mores

Let’s not forget about desserts! Have you ever tried to BBQ your s’mores? The results are astonishing and the grill will add a nice charred flavor to this absolute staple sweet. Even the healthiest BBQ deserves a little sweet treat!
